Tucked away on the corner of Central Road and Snow Prairie Road is a community church that has stood for nearly 60 years or more. Some of it’s members have attended there since high school. It’s gone through some renovations and additions like the playground outside..but the one thing that has remained is the power of the Holy Spirit in this Church. Pastor Frank Queen has been with the Church family for many years. From Pennsylvania, his wife and their children made the move to come to this small but yet inviting Church out in the middle of nowhere outside of Coldwater.
Now you can say a lot about churches these days. Talk badly about it’s members and not even blink an eye. Look for a big modern building and lot’s of music and involvement…however the experience of going to Church is not so you can be entertained. It’s a struggle and battle for some in this life, and it always seems like the family at SPBC can lift the spirits of even the most down and out person. That’s because they genuinely love you.
One of the things that I have witnessed here at this church, is how the men come together along with the women, and they pray for those who are sick or suffering. The bible doesn’t just instruct us to pray, but it sets in motion how the Holy Spirit operates and how men are supposed to approach those in need of healing and prayer, and how that prayer is heard and answered. I experienced this first hand after having surgery to remove most of my Colon after have a diagnosis of Cancer. I had two tumors that required that 90% of my Colon be removed. While I waited for some special results that were to arrive after the Cancer Institute in Elkhart, Indiana wanted to find out, I went forward for healing by the elders of this church. The bible states that a person is anointed with Oil, particularly Virgin Olive Oil from Israel if you can get it. Then that person in need of healing is anointed with the Oil as elders of the Church lay hands on that person and pray each one for God through the name of Christ to heal that person.
As each elder began to pray for me, I felt this warm and assuring feeling that the test results of my surgery, and the information they wanted from flying my Colon to California to conduct additional testing would be positive.
Several days later, I get a call from the Oncologist Office and scheduled a meeting with my Oncologist to discuss the findings. As I drove to the office in Elkhart, Indiana…I began to wonder what I would do or say finding out that my cancer may be so aggressive that I would just have to say goodbye to all my family and friends. However, a peace came over me as I walked into the doors, and sat down waiting to see Dr. Kim

Dr Kim informed me that the results were quite shocking. He said that in the many years he was a Cancer Research Doctor, and the number of patients he has seen, not many get the results that I was to receive. He was convinced after the study, that the Cancer, even though it penetrated the colon wall and into my blood stream, was not that aggressive as first thought. He also stated that my chances of ever getting cancer again from this diagnosis, i’d be looking at a 5% chance.
All I could think of was the entire time from my diagnosis to my meeting with Dr. Kim..Snow Prairie members were praying for me non stop. That Church knew about my early stages and knew about my scheduled surgery and the recovery process. They prayed for me the entire time, and laid hands on me as the bible instructs for the healing power of God to be given.
There are more stories like this from others who have been touched and healed. My diagnosis was the later part of 2011. My wife of 12 years recalls the time and in 2012 we got married her knowing that there may be a chance that this could return. It’s been nearly 14 years…with no chemo, and no further testing..and I have been cancer free since. So, if you’re looking for a Church to attend, one that has the Presence of God there and that God uses the members there to change your life and the possible outcome…Id be making sure I was at the Church parking lot waiting for the doors to be opened on Sunday Morning at 9 am.
